We didn't make this up. Reporters counted the nights.
We didn't come up with the name. NBC10 Boston did. Their reporting found that of 42 Senate votes across May and the first half of June 2020, Markey skipped 34 — about 80%, per the independent tracker GovTrack. Among them: the Great American Outdoors Act, the biggest conservation bill in decades, from the senator who co-wrote the Green New Deal. His office said he'd been prioritizing time in the state.

Markey has been in Congress since 1973. He bought a home in Chevy Chase, Maryland in 1991 and listed it as his primary residence until 2002 — and he still doesn't claim the residential tax exemption on the Malden house he campaigns in front of.
Homes, energy, and taxes all cost less in Maryland. After half a century in Washington, it's fair to ask whether he still understands what Massachusetts families are up against.
